I have no idea what interior concept to choose.
This is a common concern for both interior designers and people planning to redecorate their space. I’ve been there myself.
When things feel unclear, I often suggest: “Start with an interior concept keyword.” That’s because most of the ideas that pop into our heads—like "luxurious and stylish vibes"—tend to be abstract. But defining your vision with concrete keywords helps bring clarity.
To keep up with the latest trends, I recently dove deep into some of today’s hottest influencer accounts.
🤳 I analyzed the home styling content they post and organized the interior styles into keywords. In this article, I’ll share 8 trending interior concept keywords based on influencer content and actual search data.
Interior Concept Search Trends Over the Past Year
Here’s what people have been searching for over the past year.
To my surprise, “plant interior” dominated interest, followed by Mid-century Modern and Minimal Interior.

1. Uncommon Style
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Fill your space with things you truly love”?
I felt this concept come to life when I visited a Studio Ghibli-inspired cafe called “Dotori Boy.” The decor made the entire place feel like a mini Ghibli exhibit, and most guests were clearly drawn to its moody, whimsical vibe.
The 2024 Lifestyle Trend Report from Today’s House explained it well:
Instead of going with common or trendy styles, more people are creating “Uncommon Styles” based on what they personally love.
They now search for interior keywords based on their favorite animation or how they plan to use the space, rather than just typing popular design styles like “Mid-century Modern.”
This approach encourages you to build your space based on what genuinely resonates with you, not just what others say looks good.

2. Plant Interior (Planterior)
A mix of “plant” and “interior”
Designing a space with greenery at its core
Often combined with natural interior styles using rattan, wood, and ivory tones

3. Biophilic Design
Combines "bio" (life, nature) and "philia" (love)
Integrates nature into interiors using plants, sunlight, water, etc.
Popular in clinics and cafes recently as a core concept

4. Minimal Interior
Simplifies decor and possessions to create calm, clean spaces
Uses neutral tones like white, gray, and black
Emphasizes clean walls, simple furniture, and minimal decor

5. Contemporary Interior
Think of it as the opposite of traditional
Often uses geometric lighting and objects for a refined, modern vibe

6. Vintage Interior
Features retro items, aged furniture, and elements from old homes
Typically uses warm wood tones, old-fashioned windows and floors
Japanese vintage styles often blend in paper and wooden design elements

7. Scandinavian Interior

8. Mid-century Modern
Popular in the US from the 1940s–1960s

Mixes furniture made of metal, plastic, and wood
